12:30pm | Opening Keynote Presentation: Reframe your career into a Body of Work presented by Pam Slim
As our market fell to pieces at the dawn of 2009, many people were afraid that they no longer could have significant, stable and financially viable careers. While it is true things aren’t like they used to be, the upside is that there are many new ways to think about work and options for more significant and relevant careers.
Pamela Slim is an award-winning author, business coach and speaker. She spent the first 10 years of her business as a consultant to large companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Charles Schwab and Cisco Systems, where she worked with thousands of executives, managers and employees. In 2005, she started the Escape from Cubicle Nation blog, which is now one of the top career and business blogs on the web. In the last eight years, she helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to start successful businesses. Pam’s first book, Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur, was released in Spring 2009 and won Best Small Business/Entrepreneur Book of 2009 by 800 CEO Read. Her new book, Body of Work, gives a fresh perspective on the skills required in the new world of work for people in all work modes, from corporate to non-profit to small business.
The art of storytelling has become more important than ever before to connect with consumers and create meaning. Social media requires brands to tell their story or get lost in the noise. Billie Goldman is a pioneer in the brand storytelling landscape, winning an Emmy for her work on a series of films including The Beauty Inside and The Power Inside. Billie will be discussing the campaign’s HUGE success and the key factors to be considered when telling a compelling brand story on social media. Billie Goldman has mastered the art of transmedia storytelling. She is the Partner Marketing Manager at Intel and has worked with Toshiba to create one of the most successful transmedia campaigns EVER. Pioneering a new genre of film and even influencing the Emmy’s to create a new award category, she has broken boundaries when it comes to social networking and the film industry, creating a new kind of customer engagement.
Toni Wallace is the Director of Strategic Marketing at Columbia Records Creative Agency. She is responsible for brand partnerships and platform development initiatives for the west coast. Toni has spent the last ten years of her career in marketing and business development in technology, entertainment, and new media. Throughout her career Toni has always had a passion for music and has worked for a number of leaders in space including Warner Music, Beats by Dr. Dre, C3 Presents, and Billboard Magazine. Prior to working in the music industry, Toni worked at Microsoft in a variety of businesses including XBOX, Windows Mobile, and the Worldwide Partner Group. She also ran her own agency doing strategy and product development for startups in advertising and new media. Toni has a BA in Finance and Marketing from Northeastern University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.
Pamela Rutledge, PhD, MBA Social Technology Strategist and Director at Media Psychology Research Center, is a media psychologist. Her passion is to help organizations and individuals understand and harness the psychological shifts resulting from the rapid adoption of technologies and a networked society. She is also faculty director of the Media Psychology Program and adjunct Faculty in Leadership Psychology Doctoral Program at Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, adjunct faculty at Fielding Graduate University, and an instructor and advisory board member for UC Irvine Extension’s Internet and social media marketing certificate programs. She teaches Media Psychology & Social Change, Social Media & Emerging Technologies, The Psychology of Website Design, Audience Profiling, Narrative Media, and Transmedia Marketing through Storytelling.

4:30pm | Closing Keynote Presentation: Brian Solis: What’s The Future of Business?
Customer experience is the new marketing. Indeed, experiences can often trump your product or service. In his presentation about What’s the Future of Business (WTF), Brian will explore in a fun, visual and insight way how connected consumerism breaks down into Four Moments of Truth. He’s share the new role of technology in decision-making, and how businesses need to create experiences that mean something in each stage and also spark engagement between consumers based on those experience. He’ll also take you on an uplifting “hero’s journey” to help you bring about change from the inside out. The end result demonstrates how experience design amplifies customer relationships, drives word of mouth, and fosters organic advocacy.
Brian Solis is principal at Altimeter Group, a research firm focused on disruptive technology. A digital analyst, sociologist, and futurist, Solis has studied and influenced the effects of emerging technology on business, marketing, and culture. Solis is also globally recognized as one of the most prominent thought leaders and published authors in new media. His new book, What’s the Future of Business (WTF), explores the landscape of connected consumerism and how business and customer relationships unfold and flourish in four distinct moments of truth. His previous book, The End of Business as Usual, explores the emergence of Generation-C, a new generation of customers and employees and how businesses must adapt to reach them. Prior to End of Business, Solis released Engage, which is regarded as the industry reference guide for business to market, sell and service in the social web.

This year the SoMe Social Media Awards has partnered with PSU’s Digital Marketing Strategy program to award one talented student as our Student Digital Marketer of the Year. The six finalists were selected from over 50 possible Digital Marketing Strategy Certificate candidates, impressing a panel of industry experts with their digital strategy final project. The winning student will receive a year’s PRO subscription to Moz’s search engine marketing platform, a $1200 value, and the title of Student Digital Marketing Student of the Year.

Dennis Hahn is Liquid Agency’s EVP of Brand Experience. Working closely with the founders and leadership team in early 2013, he led the effort to define the agency’s Brand Experience model and redesign the organization to support Liquid’s evolution. Prior to that, Dennis was responsible for leading Liquid’s strategy discipline spanning brand strategy, digital strategy, planning and employee brand strategy.
Before joining Liquid, Dennis was President and Chief Strategy Officer of ID Branding, a multi-disciplinary agency that draws the best practitioners from design, advertising, interactive and branding to grow meaningful brands for consumers and employees.
Dennis has spoken at numerous conferences and events about branding and strategy for the advertising, digital, education, marketing, technology, and wine industries. In 1998, he co-authored a paper on brand culture that is part of Brand Channel’s online library.
Dennis Hahn was also an adjunct professor at Portland State University for 8 years, where he taught digital strategy and helped develop the Digital Marketing Strategies Certificate program offered through the university’s Professional Development Center.
